Advertisers
& Partners.
Terms for advertising, sponsorship and commercial partnerships.
ASCI Code · Consumer Protection Act, 2019 · Indian law
These terms govern advertising, sponsorship and commercial partnerships on NewsFirst. We welcome brands that respect our readers and our editorial independence. All commercial arrangements are subject to these terms, the ASCI Code and applicable Indian law.
01Scope
These terms apply to all advertisers, agencies, sponsors and content partners (“you”) who book or run advertising, sponsored or branded content on any NewsFirst property. They are in addition to any insertion order or agreement signed with us; in case of conflict, a signed agreement prevails.
02Editorial independence
There is a firm separation between our newsroom and our commercial function. Advertising spend does not buy, influence or suppress editorial coverage. We reserve the right to report on any advertiser or partner without fear or favour.
03Clear labelling of paid content
All paid or incentivised content is clearly and conspicuously labelled, for example “Advertisement”, “Sponsored”, “Partnered” or “Paid promotion”, so readers can always distinguish it from independent journalism. This is consistent with the ASCI Code and the Central Consumer Protection Authority’s Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements, 2022.
04Advertising standards and compliance
All creatives must be legal, decent, honest and truthful, and must comply with the Code for Self-Regulation of Advertising Content in India (ASCI), the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and other applicable law. Claims must be capable of substantiation, and you agree to provide supporting evidence on request. We may require modification of, or decline, any creative that does not meet these standards.
05Prohibited and restricted categories
We do not accept advertising that is prohibited or restricted by law, including:
- tobacco and tobacco products (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003), and surrogate advertising for products whose direct advertising is banned;
- betting, gambling and similar services where restricted by law;
- misleading financial, health, medical or “magic remedy” claims (including under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954);
- content that is defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or that infringes third-party rights.
Political and government advertising is accepted only in accordance with our separate Political & Government Advertising Policy (ref. NF/AD/P/2026/001) and applicable Election Commission of India guidelines.
06Booking, approval and rejection
All bookings are subject to acceptance by NewsFirst. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without liability, to reject, remove or require changes to any advertisement or sponsored content, including for reasons of standards, legality, reader experience or brand safety.
07Payment terms
Rates, placements, deliverables and payment schedules are as set out in the applicable insertion order or agreement. Advance payment. For more information, kindly check the payment terms and conditions in the advertisement guidelines, and further terms in the contract documents and the tax invoice. Applicable taxes, including GST, are charged as per law.
08Data and audience targeting
Any use of reader data for campaign delivery or measurement is subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and our Privacy Policy. We do not enable targeting based on sensitive characteristics or directed at children, and we do not sell personal data to advertisers.
09Liability and indemnity
You are solely responsible for the content and legality of your advertising, including all claims, endorsements and intellectual-property clearances. You agree to indemnify and hold NewsFirst harmless against any claim, penalty or loss arising from your advertising or your breach of these terms.
10Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
