How we collect, use and protect your personal data.
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
This Privacy Policy explains how NewsFirst collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use our website, apps and services. We are committed to handling your data lawfully, fairly and transparently in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
01Our role and scope
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, NewsFirst, operated by NewsFirst Digital Network LLP (LLPIN: AAC-9075), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, acts as a Data Fiduciary that determines the purpose and means of processing your personal data. This Policy applies to all personal data we process through the Services. We also observe the reasonable security practices under the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
02Personal data we collect
We collect only what we need:
- Data you give us, such as your name, email address and phone number when you sign up for early access, subscribe to newsletters, send a news tip, or contact us;
- Data collected automatically, device and browser type, IP address, approximate location, pages viewed and interactions, collected through cookies and similar technologies;
- Data from third parties, limited analytics or delivery data from service providers who help us operate the Services.
03How we use your data
We process personal data to: provide and operate the Services; send you the updates, newsletters or notifications you have requested; respond to your enquiries, tips and grievances; measure and improve our content and performance; keep the Services secure and prevent misuse; and comply with legal obligations.
04Consent and lawful basis
We rely primarily on your consent, which you give when you submit your details or opt in. Consent is free, specific, informed and unambiguous, and you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe option; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out. Where permitted, we may also process data for certain legitimate uses recognised under the DPDP Act.
05Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to run the site and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality. We choose privacy-preserving analytics wherever practical.
06Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: processors (Data Processors) who provide hosting, email delivery, analytics and similar services under contract; authorities where disclosure is required by law or valid legal process; and successors in the event of a reorganisation, subject to this Policy.
07Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised. If you withdraw consent or ask us to erase your data, we will do so unless retention is legally required.
08Security
We maintain reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encryption in transit and secure hosting, to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected individuals as required by law.
09Your rights
Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to: access a summary of your personal data and how it is processed; seek correction, completion or updating of your data; request erasure; nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity; and grievance redressal. 10Children’s data
Where we knowingly process the personal data of a person below 18 years, we do so only with verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children.
11Data transfers
Where personal data is processed or stored outside India by our service providers, we do so in accordance with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India, and we require appropriate safeguards from those providers.

We acknowledge requests and complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Act. If unsatisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
13Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The revised version takes effect when posted here, with the “Effective” date updated. We encourage you to review it periodically.
